Outgoing Staff
printAt UP FAMNIT, international mobility is enabled through the ERASMUS + exchange programs, CEEPUS programme, the Slovenian EEA and NFM Scholarship Fund program, individual bilateral agreements, and outside prorgammes.
ERASMUS+
The Erasmus + mobility program allows teaching or administrative staff to visit their partner institutions abroad. Under the program, exchanges can be attended for the purpose of teaching or training.
The participants may only attend exchanges in a country other than the country where their university is based and other than where they have a registered permanent residence.
There are two available exchange programmes in the frame of Erasmus+:
- Erasmus+: takes place at faculties, institutions and companies/organizations in the EU Member States, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland, Turkey, and Northern Macedonia.
- Erasmus+ ICM: takes place in countries outside EU, and it's only available if the home institution offers an exchange for a specific country
TRANFORM4EUROPE (T4EU)top
University of Primorska is proud to be part of Transform4Europe (T4EU), an alliance of 11 universities from different countries that have come together to form a unique European University. These institutions are located in liminal regions undergoing significant transformation, where universities play a crucial role in driving innovation, growth, and social change.
Together, we represent a community of over 150,000 students and 10,000 researchers, creating a dynamic, multilingual, and cross-border campus. Through this alliance, we offer joint study programs, collaborative courses, research projects, and events that take place across all partner institutions. This provides our students and staff with diverse opportunities for academic and cultural exchange, fostering a truly European educational experience.
The T4EU initiative also promotes numerous other activities aimed at building a more integrated and transformative higher education environment across Europe.
Among these, we highlight the following opportunities:
- Outgoing mobility of academic staff in the T4EU Chair Programme
- Incoming Visiting Professorship for the Academic Years 2024/2025 and 2025/2026
Further information about the upcoming T4EU events and opportunities for staff mobility is available on the UP webpage.

CEEPUStop
CEEPUS is a Central European exchange program for students and professors involving higher education institutions from the following countries from the Baltic to the Black sea: Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Serbia. The aim of the program is to establish and promote the mobility of students and professors between the participating countries and to take advantage of friendly connections and opportunities to design joint study programs.
There are two options for mobility under CEEPUS:
- NETWORK: Universities and faculties form networks. Within each network, students and staff can attend exchanges. In the case of mobility within the CEEPUS network, of which UP FAMNIT is a part, it is necessary to check the possibilities at the UP FAMNIT International Office. UP FAMNIT is currently involved in the network BA-1403: Managing forests for climate change.
- FREEMOVER: Students can also participate in exchanges as freemovers, if their faculty is not involved in any network. In the case of a so-called free mover exchange, it is first necessary to obtain permission for mobility at the foreign institution of your choice, followed by an application for a free mover scholarship. The CEEPUS program is coordinated by the national agency CMEPIUS, which also updates exchange opportunities under the CEEPUS free mover program. Please contact the UP FAMNIT International Office for more information on applying to the free mover exchange.
Norwegian and EEA Slovene scholarship fundtop
Norwegian and EEA financial mechanisms support the project Slovene scholarship fund. The fund supports outgoing mobility of students and staff to Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein.
A few students and employees visit these countries each year.
The project finished by the end of April 2016, however, the Norwegian government announced that it will continue to support the mobilities and the project is likely to be launched again in the future.
Mobility outside programmestop
Mobility is also possible outside formal programmes. Arrangements are agreed on an individual basis. In particular, outgoing mobility of professors and researchers often takes place outside of programmes.
Project supporttop
Some mobilities are a part of projects. Staff exchanges especially are often financed through projects. In the past, UP FAMNIT has obtained support for international mobility within Bilateral projects financed by the Slovene Research Agency (see the list of current projects on Slovene pages here) or under structural funds. An example is the project Mobility of higher education teachers of the UP.
